The Clarence

Date: 6th, 7th and 8th march 2026

This full 3 day ride will be on a mixture of road, private farm tracks and gravel roads(approx 750km’s in total). We are working with a local community group to provide farm based accommodation and dinner, as well as a night in Hanmer

Day 1-Leave Nelson and go over the Maungatapu to Blenheim. Going into Tempello Station to get to the Awatere Valley and cross the Awatere River (Conditions allowing) Heading south to Kekerengu where the local community will be hosting us for the night with Dinner, breakfast the next morning and a packed lunch for the day ahead. Accommodation will be a mixture of a local shearers quarters or on mats in the local hall. (Approx 200km’s)

Day 2-Heading south via 3 private stations in the Clarence valley. Crossing the Clarence river (by tractor if required) and exiting out thru Muzzle station, Blind saddle and onto the inland Kaikoura Road. Once near Waiau we will head over another private farm to cross the St James range into Hanmer for the night. (Approx 200km’s)

Day 3-Leaving Hanmer on the Lewis Pass road we will turn into the Glenhope Station for 55kms of backcountry tracks including a lunch stop provided. We exit the station at the Boyle village and continue back to Nelson via Muria Saddle, Murchison, Braeburn and Porika. (approx 350km’s)
