Kohatu Park

The park

The intention is to build a facility that includes approximately 5.5kms of adventure bike single track including 18 training features or challenges. This area will be built as Stage 1 on the predominantly undulating area adjacent the existing Nelson car club gravel racetrack.

Stages 2 and 3 will extend the single track into another area of plantation forest, as well as developing a steeply-sloped forest area for enduro riding. Long term we also intend to have a single track that runs around the perimeter of the 203 hectare park.

For other enquiries please email

  • With currently 5.5km's of track and numerous features the track is both fun to ride but also to provide a means to train for our sport to be safer more capable riders. (but mostly for fun...)

  • Please send an email to dave@kohatumc.co.nz and let us know you intend to attend. We will only be in touch in the case of any unforeseen closure. If you have any questions before arriving please also send an email or call Dave on 027 448 6688.

  • Your motorcycle needs to be road worthy, warranted and insured. (Except children's bikes.) There is no cell coverage so make sure you have downloaded the directions. As there are no Eftpos facilities you will need to bring cash to pay for your entry fee. We do not have any food or drink facilities on site yet so please bring what you need to eat and hydrate.

  • Please download the maps of the site or the coordinates provided. Kohatu Motorcycle Centre is located at the Northern end of Kohatu Park. Access is only from the Olivers road end 1.1km's from the Kohatu Flat Rock cafe on the Motueka Valley Highway. The Gravel road into the park is strictly a 50km per hour zone with multiple users. Please respect all forestry signage. If you find any gates closed please remember to close them.

Once at the park the bike will be checked and a liability form filled in then you are able to do as many laps as you like.

  • We are more than happy to open on any day for groups of 6 or more for training or special events. Please let Dave know and we will do our best to accommodate you and your group.

  • Adventure bikes and enduro bikes. The children’s fun area caters children’s bikes and quads.

  • Not yet but that is a service we hope to offer in the future. It is the ideal place to come to test ride any Adventure bike you are looking to purchase.

  • Yes, we hope to get younger riders learning skills at the park and have a family pass to suit. We expect children under 12 to be accompanied by an adult.
